Chateau Bellevue de Tayac

Purchased by Jean Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud in 2004, Chateau Bellevue de Tayac comes from vines located in the commune of Soussan in the Margaux appellation. The vineyard is inland, closer to the D1, and has a naturally cooler terroir, as it’s not far from the forests in the area. While Jean Luc Thunevin is better known for all his efforts with wines from the Right Bank, mostly in St. Emilion, especially with Valandraud, Thunevin is also active as a negociant as well as a producer and consultant in the Medoc. In fact, Jean Luc Thunevin also consults another estate in the Margaux appellation, Chateau Marojallia. As soon as Jean Luc Thunevin took over management of Chateau Bellevue de Tayac, he began renovating the vineyards and wine making facilities. His next decision was to give the previously drab label a face lift. The debut vintage for Thunevin sported a new, bright, modern looking, orange colored label. In 2014, Jean Luc Thunevin sold Chateau Bellevue de Tayac to Vincent Fabre. Jean Luc Thunevin remains as a consultant to the estate.
The 4.5 hectare Left Bank vineyard of Chateau Bellevue de Tayac has a terroir of gravel over clay soil. The vineyard is planted to 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot.
