The estate, as it stands in the village of Barolo, was once the property of Luigi Pira, and after his demise the estate was bought by the Pira Boschis family. In 1990 a young lady with an economics degree and a serious knowledge of the regions vinous produce took over. The Chiara Boschis estate is small and perfectly formed and although the past 14 years have proved a steep learning curve assistance from both family and friends, especially her comrades in the Langhe In, have proved invaluable, and she is now a star in her own right. It is also worth noting that all the work in the vineyard and cellars are done by Chiara, lest someone less scrupulous should affect the quality. The Nebbiolo comes from her Cannubi sub zones and the Dolcetto and Barbera are all from fruit within her estate. The fruit has a light maceration on the skins and is then transferred to oak barrique to age without filtration. The results are invariably feminine and silky.
