The hamlet of Schreckbichl (Colterenzio in Italian) is situated amid cool, vine-covered rolling hills to the south of Bolzano. It forms part of South Tyrol’s largest self-contained winegrowing area called Überetsch, or ‘beyond the Adige’. Formed in the 1960’s by a group of 28 winegrowers and estate owners the co-operative has grown considerably and now has members supplying grapes from over 320 hectares of vineyard located in some of South Tyrol’s finest sites. Colterenzio has firmly established itself not only in our list but as one of Italy’s finest sources of white wines. The 'Classici' range provides 60 per cent of the wineries production and offers introductory, varietal wines that prove excellent value for money.
